And I couldn't help myself.... After page 127 in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, about how the teachers' smiles had become "rather fixed" when Dumbledore said they were going to sing the school song.... It's not really funny or anything, just a waste of time actually. XD;

I've always been a Dumbledore/McGonagall shipper. I guess one of my ships had to sink.

His silver beard swayed as he walked through the corridors lit only by the pearly white moonlight flooding through the windows. Albus hummed quietly as he turned a corner and walked down a flight of stone steps, ending in a broad corridor also made of stone, which was lit with torches and decorated with several rather cheerful paintings mainly consisting of food.

Albus walked up to a large painting of a fruit bowl and pet the apple a few times, which purred at his touch. As he went to tickle the green pear, the painting swung open as a door, just barely missing Albus's nose as he dodged it.

A rather severe looking woman with black hair pulled back into a tight bun stepped out from behind the painting, shutting it gently behind her.

"Heaven knows," Albus said, "I don't need another broken nose!"

"Albus!" She exclaimed jumping back clutching her heart. "I didn't see you there!"

"Fancy seeing you here, Minerva," the blue eyes behind his half-moon spectacles twinkled.

She became stern, "I heard Fred and George Weasley started something of a ruckus down here again; I came to check. Did you know they're planning to blow up a toilet? Really, this is getting out of hand!"

"They're planning to blow up a toilet?" Albus chuckled. "Well, we'll deal with that when the time comes. There are worse things that could happen this year though, don't you agree?"

Minerva became flustered. "Well, yes," she said. "You don't really think...?"

"Let's hope not, Minerva."

She looked at him for a few seconds, attempting to read his thoughts.

"Are you off to bed?" Albus asked, "Or would you like to stay and have a midnight snack? I've run low on lemon drops and have just come down to get a new supply. A bit of hot cocoa sounds rather delightful as well, don't you agree?"

"No," said Minerva softy, "I suppose I ought be going to bed now. Goodnight, Albus."

"Ah, of course--classes tomorrow after all. Perhaps I should wait until then to have that hot cocoa. Goodnight, Minerva," Albus said as Minerva began walking up the stairs.

"Oh, Albus?" she said, turning to look at him.

"Yes?" Albus answered.

"The school song," she began, "now, I really think you ought to leave that out of the beginning of the year feast. Is it really necessary?"

"Oh, quite necessary," he said delightedly.

She stared. "Of course. Goodnight, Albus."

"Goodnight, Minerva."

Minerva turned and continued up the stairs.

Albus turned back to the painting and tickled the pear.
